Speeding innovation for industry

Food crop industry
The 21st-century food manufacturing industry must reduce water consumption and limit greenhouse gas emissions while ensuring that their products are healthy, nutritious, and appetizing.
CEA Tech is taking a “factory of the future” (FoF) approach to these challenges, addressing the entire food manufacturing process from crop to supermarket. Advances in cobotics and production line instrumentation will make factory workers’ jobs safer and easier and improve process quality. Other CEA Tech research will help make factories more energy efficient.
CEA Tech technologies can also contribute to the final product; these include smart packaging, online consumer feedback tools, and early detection of pathogens.
Leti, a CEA Tech institute, is coordinating the development of ISO standards for microfluidics. The goal is to speed up research and development in a field where design rules are often proprietary and empirical.
Connecting Food and List, a CEA Tech institute, have joined forces to improve quality control in the food manufacturing industry. Their solution, which leverages blockchain technology, can certify the monitoring of products from the production line to the consumer’s refrigerator.
A curved sensor that limits the number of lenses required in optical equipment was recently developed. The new sensor reduces the volume of camera modules by half, creating opportunities for the manufacturers of cameras, smartphones, and other optical systems.
In research conducted in partnership with Naval Group, Liten, a CEA Tech institute, successfully implemented a laser powder-bed fusion additive manufacturing process on a 316LN stainless steel alloy. This is the first time additive manufacturing has been used to produce 316LN parts.
HRV’s technology can be used by healthprofessionals to perfect practical techniqueson virtual models: it can also be used to analyzeworkstation ergonomics to prevent repetitivestrain injury (RSI).
