A challenge for the coming decades is to succeed in providing relevant and economically viable complementary solutions to fossil fuels and derived chemistry. There are strong hopes for the production potential of biofuels and platform molecules for chemistry derived from microalgae. A multi-partner research program, involving researchers from CEA, CNRS, INRA Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Fermentalg, on the optimization of unicellular photosynthetic organisms (microalgae), is conducted within the PCV Laboratory.
CEA is a French government-funded technological research organisation in four main areas: low-carbon energies, defense and security, information technologies and health technologies. A prominent player in the European Research Area, it is involved in setting up collaborative projects with many partners around the world.
