Biodegradation of a diesel additive

A team at the Chemistry and Biology of Metals laboratory conducted a biodegradability study of 2-EHN, a diesel additive. In this study, the researchers isolated bacteria capable of degrading this synthetic compound whose effects on the environment and human health are unknown. Furthermore they have elucidated the steps of the degradation of 2-EHN and identified the involved enzymes.
