A new step towards the understanding of angiogenesis: The characterization of the expression of BMP9


​​​​​​​​To understand the molecular mechanisms regulating angiogenesis (formation of new blood vessels from existing blood system) a team at the Cancer Biology and Infection laboratory has just characterize the expression of BMP9 and shows that this molecule is produced in the liver. These investigators establish that BMP9 circulates in an inactive and active form, and that the latter maintains the endothelial cells in a quiescent form.
