On June 25, 2018, prior to the start of the international World Nuclear Energy show in Paris, François Jacq, Chairman of the CEA, met with Yukiya Amano, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) at the CEA headquarters in Paris.
They were accompanied by Jean-Louis Falconi, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of France to the Office of the United Nations and the International Organizations in Vienna, Anne Lazar-Sury, Director of International Relations at the CEA and Governor for France on the IAEA Board of Governors, and Serge Gas, Director for Public Information and Communication at the IAEA.
At this, their first meeting, Mr Jacq and Mr Amano, discussed key issues in the current international nuclear sector, including the future of nuclear energy in France, and cooperation between the CEA and the IAEA.
The CEA works in partnership with the IAEA in all the areas in which it operates, including non-proliferation, assisting nations interested in developing nuclear power generation programs and the many other applications of nuclear energy, as well as cooperation relative to nuclear safety and security.
CEA is a French government-funded technological research organisation in four main areas: low-carbon energies, defense and security, information technologies and health technologies. A prominent player in the European Research Area, it is involved in setting up collaborative projects with many partners around the world.
