Vincenzo Salvetti, new Director of Military Applications at the CEA


​As from 1 January 2020, Vincenzo Salvetti becomes Director of Military Applications at the CEA.

In September 1984 he began his career with France’s Defence Procurement Agency (DGA), in the Rocket Motor Testing Centre at Saclay, before joining the DGA’s Aeronautical Programmes Technical Service in September 1993 to work successively on the Rafale and Mirage 2000 weapons programmes. In July 1997 he was appointed Deputy Chief of Staff to the Delegate General for Armament, then Chief of Staff as from 1 July 1999. In August 2001 he was appointed Director of the Horus programme related to the airborne component of France’s nuclear deterrent.

Vincenzo Salvetti joined the CEA’s Military Applications Division in December 2005, in the post of Deputy Head of Experimental Design and Construction (DCRE), and was appointed Head of the DCRE in March 2008.

In September 2009 Vincenzo Salvetti became Deputy Director, then Director of Nuclear Weapons, a post he occupied until his appointment as Director of Military Applications at the CEA.

Vincenzo Salvetti is a graduate of the National Aeronautical Engineering Institute in Toulouse.

He will take up the post on 1 January 2020.
