CEA-NDA framework agreement in the field of waste management and dismantling/decommissioning of nuclear facilities signed.

The alternative energies and atomic energy commission (CEA) of France and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) of the UK signed a framework agreement on June 14th in Oxford. The agreement was signed on behalf of both organisations by H. Bernard, Vice chairman of CEA and Bruce McKirdy, Acting Managing Director for the Radioactive Waste Management Directorate of the NDA. The NDA is the public body responsible for the decommissioning and clean-up of the UK's civil public sector nuclear sites and for implementing geological disposal
The agreement between the two organisations, which are involved in large scale nuclear dismantling/decommissioning operations and radioactive waste management activities, agreed to collaborate on the following areas of mutual interest:
- Dismantling/Decommissioning methodology, cost estimate and project management,
- Retrieval and treatment of waste and related cost estimates,
- Transport,
- Soils pollution, methodology of pollution evaluation and environmental impact assessment.
