Lipidomics facility


Identify, analyze and quantify the different lipids in microalgae.​

Our lab is fully equipped for lipid analysis (storage and membrane lipids, lipid polyesters, surface waxes). 

Types of analyses

 

  Fatty acid profiles (using GC-MS/FID) and profiles of volatile compounds (using thermal desorption and GC-MS/FID)

Types of lipids analyzed

  • Glycerolipids: phospholipids, galactolipids, sulfolipids, mono-, di- and tri-acylglycerols, betaïne lipids
  • Fatty acids: common and unusual ones
  • Components of cuticular waxes: alkanes, primary and secondary alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, wax esters, etc.
  • Monomers of cutin and suberin polyesters: hydroxy fatty acids, epoxy fatty acids, dicarboxylic acids, etc.
  • Hydrocarbons : alkanes and alkenes
  • Pigments : chlorophylls, carotenoïds.

 

Analytical equipment

Gas Chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry and/or flame ionization detection (GC-MS/FID) : 1 Thermo GC-MS, 1 Agilent GC/MS-FID with automatic sampler, 1 Agilent GC/MS-FID with Gerstel thermal desorption system

 High Performance Thin Layer Chromatography (HPTLC) : 1 Camag TLC autosampler 4

 Ultra-high-Performance Liquid Chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) : 1 AB SCIEX Triple TOF 5600, 1 Orbitrap (scheduled for May 2020).
