Development of innovative strategies for protection against repeated exposure to radioactive iodine.

Published on 5 June 2019

This research project proposes: to determine the modes of repeated administration of stable iodine during a chronic situation of radioactive release; to evaluate the adverse effects of repeated administration of stable iodine on the major physiological functions of the body; and to better understand the molecular mechanisms that regulate iodine metabolism, as well as the excretion and secretion of iodine. The aim of the project is to capitalize on acquired new knowledge to develop innovative protection strategies against repeated exposures to radioactive iodine, which will also be suitable for previously infected people.
