POSTDOC POSITION

First-principles calculations of electronic structure and transport properties of 2D materials-based magnetic nanostructures

Fields: computational materials science, condensed matter theory, theoretical physics, spintronics, 2D  materials

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position at SPINTEC Lab in the area of of theoretcial investigations of electronic structure and transport properties in magnetic nanosctructures comprising graphene and other 2d materials (dichalcogenides etc) in the scope of 2D spintronics developments.

The appointment is inititally for one year with a possibility of renewal for another year in the framework of FET Project "Graphene Flagship" supported by the European Commission. Research projects include ab-initio and tight-binding studies of spintronic phenomena (magnetoresistance, spin transfer torque, spin pumping, anisotropy etc) in graphene and 2D materials based nanostructures.

Positioned at the crossroad of science and technology, SPINTEC (SPINtronique et TEchnologie des Composants) is one of the leading spintronics research laboratories worldwide aiming to bridge fundamental research and innovative devices technology in the fast-growing field of spin electronics (spintronics). Ideally located on the MINATEC campus in Grenoble, SPINTEC gathers, in a flexible and project-oriented organization, physicists and engineers from the academic and the industrial world.Scientists, technology experts and product development engineers conduct their research in a beautiful multidisciplinary atmosphere to address challenges of spintronics.

A successful candidate is expected to have a strong experience in electronic and transport calculations based on density-functional theory (DFT) and/or spin dependent transport modelling based on advanced quantum (preferably Green function based) tight-binding approaches. Ph. D. in physics and/or other related discipline is required. The preference will be given to the candidate with ability to conduct both independent and collaborative research.

Please submit your cover letter, CV including a list of publications, one page statement of your research experience (optional) and names and addresses of at least two references to Prof. Mairbek Chshiev, SPINTEC, 1005 building, 17 rue des Martyrs, 38054 GRENOBLE Cedex 9, FRANCE, or by email.
