How does a system as chaotic as that of photosynthesis ensure a conversion efficiency of light close to 100%? This very fundamental question, offering nonetheless prospects of applications for important energy issues, is the one Bruno Robert addresses. As part of his ERC project, he discovered until now unknown quantum electronic transfer processes; processes that he probes now with a new microscopy, a technique which has earned him a project ERC Proof of concept.
CEA is a French government-funded technological research organisation in four main areas: low-carbon energies, defense and security, information technologies and health technologies. A prominent player in the European Research Area, it is involved in setting up collaborative projects with many partners around the world.
