CEA is also home to one of the top supercomputers in the world, Tera-100, which complements CEA's simulation capacities. Together, they provide researchers with outstanding equipment for digital simulation and high performance computing for the design of complex systems, and research in physics, neutronics, structural mechanics, thermohydraulic modeling, and life sciences.
At the heart of tomorrow's energy challenges, CEA researchers strive at advancing knowledge on the long-term behavior of materials in their environment, e.g. corrosion and reactivity of surfaces. CEA laboratories also contribute to CEA's position as a leader in actinide physics and chemistry with the Atalante facility for radiochemistry and the Institute for Separation Chemistry (ICSM), among others.
