Elsa Cortijo has been appointed as Director of the CEA's Fundamental Research Division as of November 2, 2019. She takes over from Vincent Berger, who has taken up other duties.
Elsa Cortijo began her career in 1997, at the Laboratory of Climate and Environmental Sciences (LSCE – CEA/CNRS/Université de Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines), working on climate mechanisms in the glacial and interglacial periods.
CEA is a French government-funded technological research organisation in four main areas: low-carbon energies, defense and security, information technologies and health technologies. A prominent player in the European Research Area, it is involved in setting up collaborative projects with many partners around the world.
