Presentation

The laboratory for Quantum Photonics, Electronics and Engineering (PHELIQS) is a joint research unit of CEA and of the Grenoble Alpes University (UGA). PHELIQS consists of five teams, gathering altogether a permanent staff around 60 (researchers, university professors, technical and administrative staff) and hosts around 35 PhD students and 15 postdoctoral researchers.

PHELIQS is a basic research laboratory whose activities enter mainly into the fields of nanophysics and condensed matter physics, with potential mid or long term application prospects to information and communication technologies. PHELIQS researchers aim at understanding and mastering the original physical effects (in most case of quantum origin) which appear in solid-state systems of low dimensionality (2D, 1D, 0D) and in materials with strong electronic correlations. Their ambition encompasses finding novel solutions to major open problems in photonics and nanoelectronics, including the development of devices for quantum information processing.
