Julie Gavard's research focuses on the signaling mechanisms involved in non-oncogene addiction and loss of vascular homeostasis, and had notably established a robust in vitro co-culture model of brain tumor patient-derived cells with human brain endothelial cells. Her recent work elucidates the role of Junctional Adhesion Molecule C (JAMC) in glioblastoma patient cells adhesion to brain endothelium. Using advanced models and multi-omics approaches, her team shows that JAMC limits tumor cell spreading and invasiveness by regulating integrin expression and interaction within the so-called vascular niche. These findings reveal critical adhesion mechanisms driving glioblastoma progression.
