Scientists from CNRS, CEA and the UGA confirm in PLOS Pathogens, that the Covid virus can use immune cells to increase its transmission to other cells. The researchers have also shown that it is possible to inhibit this new mode of transmission of the virus by using previously developed glycomimetics. This work is the result of an international collaboration with teams from Spain (Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre, Madrid) and Italy (Universita degli Studi di Milano).
CEA is a French government-funded technological research organisation in four main areas: low-carbon energies, defense and security, information technologies and health technologies. A prominent player in the European Research Area, it is involved in setting up collaborative projects with many partners around the world.
