From 5th to 8th January 2017, CEA will be present at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, with three radically innovative technologies: a general public headset for monitoring brainwaves, a smart and connected bicycle pedal and an obstacle detector for driverless cars.
Push is the first innovative bicycle pedal which measures power output, at one tenth the cost of existing systems, with a target price of under $100: this pedal is easy to use and can be adapted to all types of cycles (outdoor and stationary). It measures the force applied to the pedal and the pedalling cadence and then combines them to calculate and display the cyclist's power output in real time. A single Push pedal provides reliable power measurements and works whichever side of the pedal is being pressed. Amateur and professional cyclists can thus monitor their performance and improve their pedalling technique. This innovation makes power measurement accessible and paves the way for numerous applications (coaching, fitness, gaming)
Relax is a headset offering the best compromise between ease of use and precision of brain activity measurement. It is very simple to install, which means that it can be used by anyone(*). Through the information provided by the headset and its smartphone or tablet application , the users of Relax can check their level of relaxation. In the future, the technology could also be adapted to control IT applications such as virtual reality, video games, or assistance systems for the disabled.
Acteur majeur de la recherche, du développement et de l'innovation, le CEA intervient dans quatre grands domaines : énergies bas carbone, défense et sécurité, technologies pour l’information et technologies pour la santé.
