Quoc Tuan TRAN

Dr. hab. , CEA Fellow​

Prof. Quoc Tuan TRAN received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering and his “Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches” degree (Dr. Habil.) from the Grenoble Institute of Technology (Grenoble INP), France, in 1993 and 2000, respectively.

He is actually Professor at INSTN (Paris-Saclay University), Research Director, Fellow Scientist and International Expert at CEA, Scientific Manager of Smart Grids at CEA-Liten/INES and Teacher at INSTN, Grenoble-INP, and University Grenoble Alpes (UGA).

He has 11 patents. He is co-author of chapters in 7 books and author more than 300 publications in international journals and conferences. He has supervised 50 doctoral theses, realised and managed more than 50 projects (European, industrial, Ademe, ANR projects…).

He is a Senior Member IEEE and a member of CIGRE.​

Research Activities

​Prof. Quoc Tuan TRAN has more than 30 years of work in the fields of smart grids. His research interests include power systems, energy systems, simulation, analysis, operation, optimization, stability, control and protection of power systems.

His research activity concerns simulation, co-simulation, real-time simulation, interoperability, digital twins, management of complex energy systems, control and intelligent management of renewable energies (solar and wind), vehicles electrical, energy storage, HVDC and MVDC systems, intelligent buildings...

He has organized and participated in several international conferences such as General Chair, Chairman, and Scientific Committee and participated in several international technical committees such as IEEE, CIRED, ANR.

​He has participated in scientific training and teaching abroad.​
