Martin Blackledge, CEA​ Research Director at the Institut de Biologie Structurale (IBS), was elected Fellow of the International Society of Magnetic Resonance (ISMAR).

This international distinction recognizes Martin Blackledge's major scientific contributions to the field of magnetic resonance, and in particular his pioneering work on the study of intrinsically disordered proteins using NMR spectroscopy. His research has contributed to the development of integrative approaches combining experimental data, ensemble methodologies and computational frameworks to describe the structure and dynamics of these highly flexible proteins. ISMAR also highlights the impact of this work on understanding the role of protein disorder in essential biological processes, including viral replication, cellular signalling and protein function in general.

Election as an ISMAR Fellow is a recognition by the international magnetic resonance community of a scientist's significant contributions to the field, both through their research and through their efforts to advance and promote magnetic resonance. A maximum of four new Fellows are elected each year by the existing ISMAR Fellows.

“FEBS NATIONAL LECTURER” award was created to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Federation of European Biochemical Societies (FEBS). It recognizes both scientific excellence and a significant international reputation in biochemistry or molecular biology, offering outstanding researchers the opportunity to deliver a plenary lecture at a scientific congress organized by a FEBS member society in a country other than their own.

Martin Blackledge delivered his plenary lecture on 17 September at the GBM Compact congress “Spotlight on RNA Structure and Dynamics," in Frankfurt, Germany.
