FISA 2022 & EURADWASTE ’22 conferences - from May 30 to June 3, 2022, in Lyon, France


​The 10th Euratom Conference on Reactor Safety (FISA) & 10th Euratom Conference on Radioactive Waste Management (EURADWASTE) will run from May 30 to June 3 at the Hôtel de Région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Lyon, France. In scope with the French Presidency of the EU Council, the event is co-chaired by the CEA and the European Commission and will gather around 500 stakeholders.

​Open to government officials, civil society, industry, research institutes and academia, these conferences intend to allow their participants:

  • to look at key policy recommendations from all stakeholders and policy makers;
  • to learn more about the European Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, ‘Horizon Europe’ and ‘Euratom Research and Training’ programmes;
  • to take part in the discussions on the state of play of R&D and key challenges addressed at national, European and international levels, synergies and partnerships and future perspectives;
  • to share updated information on achievements of some 80 projects carried out since the previous conferences edition;
  • to interact within dedicated parallel and poster sessions, exhibitions, business and matchmaking interviews;
  • and to reward relevance and excellence performed in nuclear research and innovation;

Among the conferences’ sessions, two joint introduction and conclusion will provide a unique opportunity to set the scene and draw key recommendations at European and International levels.

Several high-level representatives will take part in the joint introduction of FISA 2022 – EURADWASTE ’22 (Tuesday morning), such as François Jacq, General Administrator of the CEA, William D. Magwood IV, Director General of OECD Nuclear Energy Agency and Joanna Drake, Deputy Director-General, DG Research & Innovation at the European Commission.

As 2022 is the European Year of Youth, the event will highlight work of students and young professionals in the nuclear field. Specific sessions, workshops and activities will be set up for the young generation, in collaboration with the European Nuclear Society and the European Nuclear Education Network.

Journalists are invited to attend these events, upon accreditation available here until May 23rd.

Co-organised by CEA and the European Commission, DG R&I, the conferences are organised under the scope of the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Nuclear Valley, the Sfen and the SNETP are also strongly involved and Région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes is kindly hosting and supporting all events taking place during that week.
