Liten plays a central role in European innovation
As one of Europe's premier technological research institutes, Liten is in constant contact with European decisionmakers and is a stakeholder in European technology platforms, federations, and several public-private partnerships.

These activities have made Liten the hub of a vast network that has positioned the institute to either lead or participate in more than 100 European collaborative research projects in new energy technologies and materials addressing the following topics:
- Solar energy
- Batteries, hydrogen, and thermal energy storage
- Closing the carbon cycle
- Energy efficiency
- Waste recycling
- Energy systems and grids
- Transport
- Advanced materials and circular economy
- Printed and structural electronics
Some of these projects aim to support the emergence of new industries that are strategic for Europe: BATTERY 2030+, SUNGERGY, CICERONE, SMARTEES et SMARTEES2, and TEESMAT.
