Gasification Equipment and New Energy Platform of Innovation
Based on the CEA site in Grenoble, the GENEPI platform offers experimental tools for the preparation (drying, torrefaction, grinding) and gasification (entrained flow reactor) of various biomass and waste resources.
Halfway between the lab and demonstration scales, GENEPI is a totally unique R&D platform in Europe, which aims to be accessible to academic and industrial actors. It works as an open innovative platform, where each user can test ideas for technological improvement, carry out experimental campaigns on different types of resources, and conduct collaborative projects.
CEA Liten will be at the 25th edition of the European Biomass Conference and Exhibition 2017. As one of the world’s leading R&D conference combined with an international exhibition, the EUBCE represents the leading platform for the collection, exchange and dissemination of scientific know-how in the field of biomass.
Research engineers from the Laboratories for Preparation and Thermal Conversion of Bioresources (LPB and LTCB) at CEA Liten will be present on the “CEA Tech exhibition space” and make oral presentations.
Welcome on the English version of the GENEPI website!
We invite you to navigate through the pages of this website to discover the GENEPI project, its unique R&D equipment dedicated to the preparation and gasification of various biomass and waste resources, its partners and their R&D activities.
After three years of work, the GENEPI platform is operational. Its mission is to contribute to the development of innovative and efficient value chains based on the preparation and gasification of biomass and waste resources for the production of liquid or gaseous biofuels. Halfway between the laboratory and demonstration scales, it offers unique research tools in France and Europe. It was inaugurated on September 8, 2016 in the presence of ANR, Mines-Albi and CIRAD, as well as a numerous industrial, academic and institutional players.
The Laboratory for Preparation of Bioresources (LPB) works on the characterization and preparation of various biomass and waste resources by means of mechanical and/or thermal pretreatment processes. It includes grinding, sieving, pressurization, powder injection, drying, torrefaction or slow pyrolysis.
The Laboratory for Thermal Conversion of Bioresources (LTCB) works on the development of biomass and waste-to-energy processes (heat, electricity), as well as processes dedicated to the production of 2G/3G biofuels and green chemicals. It has wide expertise in gasification processes and technologies dedicated to dry resources (fixed bed, fluidized bed, entrained flow reactor) and wet resources (hydrothermal liquefaction, supercritical water gasification). It is equipped with numerous analytical devices to characterize the products (gas, bio-oil, bio-crude, char), study the reaction kinetics, and analyze the inorganic species and their interactions with materials.
Acteur majeur de la recherche, du développement et de l'innovation, le CEA intervient dans quatre grands domaines : énergies bas carbone, défense et sécurité, technologies pour l’information et technologies pour la santé.
