Frédéric Ducros earned a PhD in engineering from INPG Grenoble. He then joined the European Center for Research and Advanced Training in Scientific Computing in Toulouse, where he stayed from 1996 to 2001. This experience allowed him to develop his knowledge of turbulence modeling.
In 2001, he joined the CEA's nuclear division, where he held several research and management positions. In 2014, he started at CEA-Liten's exchanger and reactor laboratory, which he now heads.
He shifted his research focus to the circular carbon economy in 2021, helping to shape and structure this activity. Since 2023, he has broadened his scope to include topics like energy storage, fuel cells, cycles, and heat exchangers from a thermohydraulic modeling perspective.

Researchers at CEA-Liten have developed a 10 kW prototype that can increase the temperature of industrial waste heat from 80°C to over 100°C, while consuming very little power. Beyond improved performance, this study has provided valuable insights on optimizing and controlling these systems for widespread industrial use.
The electricity market, means of production and consumption have undergone significant changes since the beginning of the millennium as a result of market opening, the rise of renewable energies and increased usage of electricity.
