Scientific Exchanges
Liten builds
strong, long-term partnerships addressing renewable energy with research and innovation ecosystems at the regional, national, European, and international levels. These partnerships help Liten conduct
research at the international state of the art and maintain its scientific excellence.
Research at low TRLs is conducted with a view to creating new knowledge and inventing breakthrough concepts. Liten works closely with academic research labs through joint supervision of PhD candidates, collaborative institutional research projects, and joint research teams.
Liten works tirelessly to ensure that its researchers are involved in national and EU research groups that align with the institute's strategy.
At the regional level:
- Liten (via the CEA) is a member of the Grenoble-Alpes University IDEX consortium, which was certified by the French government in January 2016. Liten researchers are involved in IDEX cross-disciplinary programs like
ECOSESA and
CIRCULAR.
- Liten is also very active in research on the
INES (France's national solar energy institute) campus near Chambéry.
- Liten is a founding member of Carnot
Énergies du Futur (EF), the Carnot Network institute for research on energy technology. Furthermore, Liten co-directs the institute with Grenoble Institute of Technology.
At the national level:
- Liten is directly involved in a number of organizations that coordinate research at the national level. These activities position Liten to build long-term relationships with academic research labs, promote its own research, and help shape national energy research policies. These organizations include, but are not limited to:
- Liten is engaged in more than 30 research projects with academic research labs across France, as well as with
CNRS (France's national center for scientific research) labs, and government-funded commercial and industrial undertakings like
BRGM,
CSTB, and
IFPEN. Liten has particularly strong partnerships with research units like
LEPMI on electrochemical generators, with
ICMCB and
IMN on materials for electrochemical generators, with
IRCELYON on catalysis, with
G2Elab on energy grids, and with LOCIE on energy systems.
At the European and international levels:
- Liten's activities extend beyond France's national borders, and the institute is committed to playing an active role in research at the
European and international levels. For example, Liten represents France on three
International Energy Agency collaborative programs on hydrogen, fuel cells, and photovoltaics.
- Liten also has partnerships with several leading international labs, conducting research on renewable energy, energy grids, and energy storage. These partnerships provide opportunities for Liten to share and compare its know-how and approaches to lab testing and digital simulation and modeling methods with other organizations and promote researcher exchange programs.
