A CEA-Joliot team is developing with the AP-HP a mass spectrometry diagnostic test for COVID-19 that would also make it possible to assess the patient’s viral load. Their aim is to make the method more sensitive and more compatible with hospital equipment.

An international consortium of scientists, including an I2BC team, has just deciphered the functioning of FAP (Fatty Acid Photodecarboxylase), a key photoenzyme for the production of biofuels and other high value added molecules. This work, published in Science, was the object of a CEA press release.

In an unprecedented work published in Brain, researchers from LMN (MIRCen/CEA-Jacob) showed that these abnormal tau proteins migrate from neurons to astrocytes, another type of cell within the brain, and remain toxic in the astrocytes as well.

Cyclists who love the "fixie" (a fixed-gear city bike with no mudguards) could soon enjoy the comfort of a streamlined and quiet electric start-assist motor. CEA-Leti invented and patented elementary motor components that can be adapted in terms of size, number, and arrangement to suit the target application.

Les adeptes du « fixie », ce vélo urbain à pignon fixe et sans garde-boue, pourraient disposer demain d'une discrète motorisation électrique pour l'assistance aux démarrages. Ceci grâce à des briques élémentaires de moteur inventées et brevetées par le CEA-Leti. Chacune comprend des bobines d'excitation et un système de détection de champ magnétique.
