A research team from CEA-Leti, in collaboration with Université Grenoble Alpes and Grenoble Alpes University Hospital (CHU Grenoble Alpes), has developed an AI model designed to support the diagnosis of bipolar disorder and its subtypes. The model relies on data acquired through two complementary and portable modalities: electroencephalography (EEG) and functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS). These technologies offer a low-cost solution suitable for routine clinical use. The team’s work has helped define a system capable of identifying relevant biomarkers to distinguish bipolar disorder type I from type II.
