Semi-conductors are everywhere, omnipresent in our computers, telephones, cars and smart objects, concentrating some of the world's best innovations. CEA-Leti engineers are stepping up their efforts to support the strong demand for innovation, notably in the medical industry.

The increasing number of breakthroughs in medical imaging and personalized medicine is no coincidence. In recent years, CEA-Leti has been bolstering its research activities to offer new solutions to solve public health problems. Examples of technological developments include:

  • Improved characterization and identification of viruses in the air;
  • More targeted, personalized treatment of chronic diseases of the intestine;
  • Slowing down the progression of Parkinson's disease

Mobility is also in the limelight, with new records for gyroscopes and power electronics (GAN).  Another booming sector is the development of hardware solutions for cyber security to improve protection against attacks, notably concerning smart objects, which constitute real back doors for hackers.

Finally, in February 2021 following the President's announcements, CEA-Leti announced its quantum roadmap (based on silicon) and its major goal of developing a complete set of technologies ready for production.
