Speeding innovation for industry
Human health and the environment
Healthcare R&D must respond to the challenges of medical efficacy and cost reduction. And with the advent of preventive and predictive medicine, new solutions must not only provide care and predict acute phases of disease, they must also help keep patients healthy. CEA Tech is developing diagnostic technologies (imaging and sensors) and instruments to monitor air, water, and food quality. CEA Tech is also contributing technologies to drive decision-assistance tools and medical systems for cases where treatment is required.
The Epicool project is investigating the use of optics to cool epileptogenic areas in the brains of epilepsy patients resistant to other treatments. A prototype implantable device is currently being developed and will be miniaturized before animal testing begins.
Explainable AI—when an artificial intelligence produces an explanation of a decision along with the decision itself—is a requirement for certain applications. CEA-List, a CEA Tech institute, recently tackled this major issue in trusted AI by developing a new machine learning module that can classify images and annotate objects. The module has been integrated into the ExpressIF® AI platform.
CEA-Leti, a CEA Tech institute, recently combined its MEMS and silicon photonics capabilities to develop a novel device capable of detecting particles within a size range that had been difficult to identify prior to this innovation. The research was conducted in partnership with CEA-IRIG.
Researchers from CEA-Leti, a CEA Tech institute, tested a novel hypothermia treatment for glioblastoma, a particularly serious type of brain tumor, at biomedical research center Clinatec.
Moovlab, a spinoff of CEA-Leti, a CEA Tech institute, helps gyms improve customer loyalty with fun and interactive virtual circuit training tailored to each user’s individual goals.
