MetaMaterials antenna for ultra-high field MRI

M-CUBE

M-CUBE aims to change the paradigm of high-field and ultra-high-field MRI antennas to provide a better view of the human body and allow early detection of diseases.

Presentation

The main objective of M-CUBE is to go beyond the limitations of clinical MRI imaging and radically improve spatial and temporal resolutions. The clinical use of high-field MRI scanners is significantly limited due to the inhomogeneity and specific absorption rate (SAR) of the radio frequency (RF) fields associated with magnetic resonance.

The main way to address and solve these problems is to increase the number of active RF antennas, which leads to complex and costly solutions. The M-Cube solution relies on innovative systems based on passive metamaterial structures to avoid multiple active elements. These systems should make high-field MRI fully relevant for physicians' diagnosis

ABOUT FET-OPEN

FET Open, part of the EIC Pathfinder, supports the early stages of scientific and technological research and innovation around new ideas for radically new future technologies. It also funds coordination and support actions to ensure that this high-risk prospective research flourishes in Europe, as well as FET Innovation Launch actions to turn the results of FET-funded projects into real societal or economic innovations.

The European Innovation Council (EIC) pilot project supports researchers and innovators who develop high-risk breakthrough innovations with the potential to create new markets and stimulate jobs, growth and prosperity in Europe.
