"Connected health" is a concept that makes it possible to create personalized diagnoses and treatments for each patient and helps facilitate dialog between the different players to reduce overall costs to society.
Currently, labs require at least eight hours to determine the most efficient antibiotic treatment for a given infection. SUPPLY, a new research project at CEA-Leti, hopes to revolutionize this process thanks to a novel method of analysis based on “optical tweezers”. The project aims to create a prototype that could enable labs to confirm a treatment in only two hours.

A new diagnostic technology could help confirm heart attacks faster and more cost-effectively than conventional antibody screening. Proof-of-concept testing was completed successfully on blood-clotting enzyme thrombin, which means that the technology could potentially be used to detect troponin, a cardiovascular disease biomarker.
