DNA repair and recombination:
a delicate balance between genomic fidelity and diversity
Maintaining the fidelity of genetic information is a critical function of all organisms. In higher eucaryotes the accumulation of mutations can give rise to pathologies such as cancer or neurodegenerative diseases. However, evolution requires genetic changes.

​​In our laboratory, we are interested in understanding the fundamental basis of these two aspects by studying the mechanisms involved in the remarkable genetic diversity of the human pathogenic bacterium Helicobacter pylori.​​
