Flash ANR Covid-19: IDMIT engaged in a project selected by the ANR

As a part of the Covid-19 Flash call launched on March 6, 2020, the ANR selected 86 research projects for immediate funding, covering a large number of issues related to the Covid-19 epidemic. Among the selected projects, one project coordinated by Roger Le Grand (IDMIT) focuses on the study of the pathogenesis of the SARS-Cov-2 infection in a pre-clinical study model.

As a part of the Covid-19 Flash call launched on March 6, 2020, which aims to mobilise scientific communities in response to the evolving epidemic, the French National Research Agency (ANR) has selected and announced at the end of its evaluation process, for immediate funding, 86 research projects covering a large number of issues related to the crisis.

The budget for this call has been increased to €14.5 M thanks to the emergency fund allocated by the Ministry of Education, Research and Innovation (MESRI) and the support of funding partners.

Although the selected projects cover a wide range of scientific disciplines and issues, they all have one thing in common: their aim is to produce knowledge and contribute to the fight against the epidemic. Most address issues spanning two or more of the call's four themes.

  • Theme 1 : Epidemiological and translational studies
  • Theme 2 : Physiopathogenesis of the disease (virus-host interactions and immune response)
  • Theme 3 : Infection prevention and control measures in healthcare settings (including the best ways to protect healthcare staff) and in communities
  • Theme 4 : Ethics - approaches to the response from the humanities and social sciences

Among the selected projects, the AM-Cov-Path project coordinated by Roger Le Grand (director of the IDMIT department) focuses on the study of the pathogenesis of SARS-Cov-2 infection in a non-human primate model to cover two axes: the therapeutic axis and the prophylactic axis.
