The GREENJacob group was created in 2024 with of local groups of the Departments of the Institute, that had been engaged since 2022 in sustainable development and in reducing the carbon footprint of their research activities (GREENCen, LET-IDMIT, EcoGENE, GreenRCM). Its aim is to complement the actions undertaken by the Institute’s teams as part of the CEA’s environmental management and decarbonization strategy. GREENJacob enables the Institute’s staff to foster sustainable science in their daily work through original initiatives that give greater meaning to their activities beyond regulatory requirements. These local actions particiate to more ambitious projects, supported in particular through the CEA’s Élan Eco Énergie Challenge.
The GreenGARDEN project, winner of the 2024 Élan Eco Énergie Challenge, aims to restore ecosystems and preserve biodiversity across the CEA Paris-Saclay Center sites (Saclay, Fontenay-aux-Roses, and Evry). Its originality lies in the implementation of participatory inventories of the natural heritage of the three sites, raising awareness and engaging staff in the care and conservation of the Center’s green spaces. The project’s goals and actions were presented by Coralie Toldo-Quélard during the inaugural conference, which brought together 90 participants involved in the project or interested in integrating sustainable development initiatives within the CEA—whether in core research activities or in the environmental management of its different sites.
