On the occasion of World Parkinson’s Day 2026, the François Jacob Institute of Biology proposed a seminar by Romina Aron Badin, Director of the MIRCen Department, dedicated to research on neurodegenerative diseases.
Parkinson’s Disease: Diagnosis, Biomarkers and Therapies
Today in France, 270,000 people are living with Parkinson’s disease, and 25,000 to 30,000 new cases are diagnosed each year.
Characterized in particular by the progressive degeneration of dopaminergic neurons and the abnormal accumulation of proteins such as alpha-synuclein, Parkinson’s disease represents a major public health challenge. The research conducted within the Institute follows a multidisciplinary approach, bringing together cell biology, imaging, genomics and modelling to decipher the processes involved and identify new therapeutic targets.
Romina Aron Badin provided an overview of current knowledge on the pathophysiology of Parkinson’s disease, available treatments and therapeutic perspectives.
